Still time to do survey on garbage and recycling

Hours will change for some eco-depots, stay the same for others.

There’s still time to fill out the TNRD survey on garbage and recycling services.

Deadline is Tuesday, Feb. 28. The survey, which is open to all residents of the TNRD including member municipalities, is part of the Regional Solid Waste Management Plan Review process.

A link to the online survey can be found at tnrd.ca. Residents who fill it out (it takes less than five minutes) have a chance to be entered into a draw to win one of two prizes: a $100 VISA card or a home composting kit. It’s expected winners will be announced in mid-March.

Reviews of the TNRD’s Solid Waste Management Plan are done periodically with guidance from the provincial Ministry of Environment. The last review was completed in 2008. The work done over the next year and a half will set the direction for the management of solid waste in the TNRD for at least 10 years.

The process will include public consultations and the continued input from three separate committees. I sit on the steering committee.

The process will be guided by a consultant, TNRD staff, and the Ministry of Environment’s new “Guide to Solid Waste Management Planning.”

For more information about the review, go to tnrd.ca.
