VAVENBY — A third set of water sample results shows no detectable signs of diesel in water from the community water system.
The samples, released today (Monday, Jan. 23, 2017) were taken Friday and mark the third consecutive day that lab results have detected no diesel.
A fourth set of results expected Tuesday will include samples taken over the weekend as well as those taken today. The water testing, and a “Do Not Use” order put on Vavenby’s river-water supply by Interior Health, came after a tanker truck spilled 800 litres of diesel into the North Thompson River a week ago.
About 114 homes are on the Vavenby system.
Water continues to be available at the Vavenby Fire Hall between 12 noon and 7 p.m., and showers are available at the North Thompson Sportsplex Arena in Clearwater between 5 and 9 p.m. this week.
Those needing transportation can take the bus service from the Vavenby store at 6 p.m. each day.
