PRITCHARD – Residents have taken ownership of the beach area on the north side of the bridge in the best possible way.

The lack of maintenance at this undesignated park has been an issue for years. I’ve been looking into the possibility of a pilot project that would provide garbage containers and porta potties for part of the season, but residents have been busy during the past few weeks with a volunteer effort of their own.

Last weekend, they formed a work party to cut the grass and clean up the garbage, and cooked hotdogs and hamburgers to raise some money.

Since then, volunteers have been rotating on emptying the garbage cans. Fantastic community spirit.

TNRD is currently putting together a budget for me for the pilot project that would include garbage containers, porta potties, signage, gravel and a doggie-bag station.
