PINANTAN — Fire protection will be up for discussion at an important meeting in Pinantan elementary school on Monday, April 13, 7 p.m.
The Pinantan/East Paul Lake Fire Department Association has been working hard at gauging interest in the issue, working with the TNRD and setting out a proposed fire service area and establishing a proposed budget.
The issue has come up several times in the past, and was raised again when the Pinantan store burned down last spring.
Borrowing would be required within the service area to build a fire hall and purchase equipment. The meeting April 13 will provide further information on the proposal and give residents a chance to ask questions.
If there’s enough interest, the TNRD board could authorize a public assent process to formally decide the wishes of residents and authorize borrowing.
