Residents of Black Pines and nearby rural areas will get a chance to learn more tonight (Tuesday, Dec. 16) about Kinder Morgan’s proposed pipeline expansion.
The existing pipeline runs down the North Thompson Valley through Black Pines, and the expansion would significantly impact the Black Pines area as Kinder Morgan wants to diverge the route in order to accommodate another pipe.
Kinder Morgan says it won’t be talking about individual landowner concerns but will set up appointments with those who want to know specifics about the effects on their properties.
In speaking with Kinder Morgan, I’m also told the company isn’t in a position to discuss in detail possible contributions towards the new Black Pines water-intake project at tonight’s meeting. However, it’s open to discussion over the next several weeks about a community contribution.
Tonight’s session starts at 6:30 p.m. with an open house at the Whispering Pines Community Hall. Consultants will make a presentation at 7 and there will be time for questions from residents.
